A Node to be included in the network must be in the Ready to bond state (the red LED is flashing). The purpose of the bonding is to deliver the following information to the new Node:
● Logical address ranging 1 to 239
Other addresses used in IQMESH:
• 0 The Coordinator address
• 255 Broadcast address (to send a packet to all Nodes).
• 254 Temporary address (prebonded Node)
● NID (Network Identification Number) identifying whether a networking packet on-the-air belongs to the given network.
● Network password, intended for the Node to be able to decrypt / encrypt packets in the given network.
● Operating channel (see below for more information)
The delivery of all these parameters is accomplished by AES-128. The key for this encryption / decryption is derived from the Access Password or IBK (depending on the bonding method). Refer to IQRF OS User’s guide, chapter Encryption.
It is possible to bond a Node by several methods:
● Via IQuip
Regardless of the bonding method, the bonding runs through the service channels. Therefore, the operating channel (used in the network to which the Node should be bonded) need not be specified in the TR configuration of the Node. The operating channel is inherited from the Coordinator during the bonding and automatically stored in the TR configuration of the Node.
Refer to IQRF OS User’s guide, chapter Bonding.
