It is possible to replace a transceiver (either the Coordinator or a Node) in the network (e.g. when the TR failed) without the necessity to perform a new bonding and Discovery. Networking data can be restored from the backup into any proper piece of aTR.
To enable restoring at any time in the future, it is necessary to have a file with backup data and know the Access Password which had been selected at the original transceiver when its backup was created.
Caution: The backup is primarily intended for replacing a broken TR. If it is used for another purpose (e.g. testing), it should be taken into account that the newly restored TR gets the same Network Password as the old one, and its unique Network Password value assigned from the factory is lost. Therefore, if such a TR is subsequently used as a Coordinator in another network, this network will use the same network encryption keys which is against the security rules. To avoid this, always make the backup of such TR in advance and restore it to the factory settings after all the tests are finished. |
