If it is sure that all Nodes are in direct RF range with the Coordinator (the Star topology), it is possible to omit the Discovery process during the network creation. In this case, the network will operate faster but without redundant paths at all (with no routing Nodes). Anyway, if no RF drop-outs occur, the network is fully functional. All features mentioned in this document are valid for the Star as well, except the topics regarding the Discovery and routing.

However, even in this arrangement, the Discovery can advantageously be applied. This will bring more reliable traffic. The packets will be delivered not only from / to the Coordinator but also via neighboring Nodes.
