Every discovered Node in the network is capable of routing packets in background.

This routing can be disabled (in the TR configuration of the given Node).

Every routing Node routes every packet only once.

Every routing Node routes in the time slot corresponding to its VRN address (assigned during the Discovery). The response is propagated in reverse order.

Routing Nodes should not be moved (static routing backbone). After relocating a routing Node, the Discovery should be reinvoked.

For effective IQMESH, the topology (placement of devices with respect to the RF range) should be designed redundantly (every Node should have a sufficient number of discovered Nodes in direct RF range).

IQMESH supports communication between the Coordinator and a Node only (but not directly between the Nodes).

Synchronous communication is recommended: requests initiated by the Coordinator and responses from Nodes.

Asynchronous packets are also possible but they must be completely managed by the user. Possible collisions must be avoided in application software. It is not possible to send routed asynchronous packets from not discovered Nodes at all. A special type of asynchronous communication is Beaming used for low-power Beaming sensors.
